In 1949, Indianapolis entrepreneurs Ed and Thelma Schoenberger had an idea to create a show that featured Holiday gift ideas, Santa Claus and a variety of arts and crafts, and the Christmas Gift & Hobby Show was born. From a handful of exhibitors and, of course, Santa the show has grown. Today, the Christmas Gift & Hobby Show is the largest of its kind in the Midwest. Over 60,000 patrons attended last year, and the show now boasts over 350 exhibitors selling “something for everyone”.
Since 1949 the city of Indianapolis has marked the beginning of the holiday season with the opening of the Christmas Gift & Hobby Show. This event is a true Mid-Western Tradition that attracts tens of thousands of shoppers!!
The Christmas Gift & Hobby Show, has been owned by Hobby Shows Incorporated since 1989.
